I’ll never become a publicist. It’s morally
incorrect.
Sheila – The Desigual (Día de la madre) ad
is very sexist so I’ll never want to become a publicist.
Marta – But that is not the publicist's fault, the brand also decides, what type of advert they want to do.
Publicists normally gets, the brands ideas and then they create the advertisements.
Sheila – The publicist shouldn’t create a
type of ad that they don’t believe in. They should think first in their values
and think about if what they are creating follows their ethical values.
Marta – Publicist have to do what they are
asked for, they cannot say, ah no I don’t want to create or write this ad
because I’m against killing animals. They work for a company and that company
works for some brands if the publicist doesn’t like those brands he will have
to shut up and leave their values aside and work.
Sheila – I think that a publicist, as I
said before, should place their values before of work and if the company they
work for does not follow his/her values; he could always change of work and look
for another one that he feels confortable with.
Marta – Nowadays we can’t go leaving jobs
because we don’t like the values that the company works with. It’s not time to
lose a job without having another one for sure. We must leave our feelings to
one side and do what we must do and when we leave work is when we have to keep
defending our way of life.
Sheila – You may be right because we all have families and people we care about and having a job nowadays is very important, but although I will never become a publicist
because I would not feel happy with myself if I left behind what I have always
defend.
