Les macarres de Vic

September 18, 2014 photograph taken Silvia Carbó.

The picture is taken at our apartment in Vic (Barcelona), is picture of the four of us. , We were ready to go to class when we decided to do it ourselves.
We put the mobile phone in front of the TV and got the timer, so we could all be in the image.

We have already spent two weeks living together and we wanted to have a memory of those first days, so we could put it at the entrance to our little home, so whenever someone enters the apartment the first thing he sees is our picture.
In the photo you can see faces of joy, not a static image, since we raised arms, and legs.

As for the light image, of course, there’s only one light, the one coming through the windows, which make’s the picture poor, we should have turn on the light bulb behind of us so that it illuminated our faces. The shadow has no meaning and is not very justified; also we can talk about the camera quality of the phone that is not very good and that why black colours predominate over the clarity in the room.

On the other hand, if you look at the composition of the picture, there is a lot of space above our heads. The picture does not follow the rule of the three thirds, since the bottom is where the action happens; however around the couch and the top of the screenshot there is no element of interest.

If we make the image differently, it might fit better and give more light on us, highlighting our animated faces and attitudes.

We chose this picture because it is the first image we have of the four together, that represents our third year, the beginning of the course and all that is left to live in these months of cohabitation. For this reason, we can say that we really like, as it represents our friendship.

The special color of Palamós

July 27, 2014 photograph taken by Sheila Ribot

I went to Palamós on vacation and it seem very interesting to me, this photo was taken in the port of Palamós (Girona), when the ships rested in the evening. The lighting in the picture is the original; I captured this photo with a digital camera and have not gone through any process of change.

From my point of view, the image speaks for itself, highlights how the sun falls while it also transmits a relaxing situation, we cannot see any employees on the ships, and the ones that are left sailing they’re on their way to the port. It can be understood that the working day is over and it take’s place a silent and relaxing night.

As for the light, of course, the contrast between the shade, the last rays of light and the orange colour that reflects into the water and creates harmony in the image. The picture has a balanced lighting when we talk about cold and warm colours, however, the light of the sun in the sky stands out above the other colours, however this intense light makes the image like it was burned at the upper left.

As for the image composition, it does not follow the rule of three thirds, the most important part of the image is at the bottom, and there is a lot of air at the top, a lot of empty space that does not communicate anything. The sun and sky act as information that could be avoided.
To get a similar picture, but correcting some errors, we should assess the situation, follow the rule of three thirds, to avoid burning the image with intense light, so avoid sunlight or put a filter that can be corrected. Avoid the air left on the top and concentrate the target that we want to show in the picture avoiding the buildings that are very far away and do nothing.

Even now I detect some errors, I chose this picture because it shows the end of a day, because it transmits tranquillity and serenity. I particularly like it a lot; because we have transmitted the memory of my vacation and that we have great memories.

Temps de Flors

Here is my picture; it’s a flowery picture that was taken in May of 2014 in Girona. I’m the responsible of taking the Picture. This photo is from Temps de Flors, a flower exposition that is celebrated in Girona each year. Monuments, courtyards and gardens are all decorated with different types of flowers and colours. I took this photo because it was very colourful and different from other decorations I had seen before. As I said before, is a picture that was taken during the Temps de Flors exposition, is an amateur photo where the colours, the light, the composition are the originals, they haven’t been altered for this post.

This photo was taken so that people that don’t know about this exposition in Girona gets to know it, by hanging the Picture on internet and also because it was one of the decorations I really liked from 2014 exposition. As I just said, is directed to any person that hasn’t seen the exposition, so they can see how wonderful and beautiful it is.

The artistic elements of this Picture are the flowers we can see on top of the ground, but really they are not flowers, they are black umbrellas that are painted with different colours and patterns, that represent flowers, also we can see boots painted with flower patterns and from inside them we can see how flowers are emerging.

I think that this exposition was done in this place because here before there was a river but there’s not any water so the ground is very dry and it only gets wet when it rains (that’s why of the umbrellas and the boots) and when it rains flowers grow so that’s why flowers are painted.

I have chosen this picture because I love going to this exposition each year, as I’m from Girona and also because are days that you can go with family and friends and have fun.
