The curios incident of the dog in the night-time

The curious incident of the dog in the night-time is a Mark Haddon novel. He is an English writer. The author is recognised for writing novels for children, but this book is for all publics. The novel has won different prizes, such as, Whitbread Book Awards (2003) o Commonwealth Writers Prize (2004) for and Best First Book.

The story is about a 15-year-old boy, Christopher John Francis Boone. The teenager talks in first person and tells us his day a day, how he lives, his emotions and feelings of someone who suffers from Asperger syndrome. Christopher is very energetic and he likes to investigate and learn more about the world around him. He is a big fan of the Sherlock Holmes novels. The author refers to him on the title because the title is a comment that the Sherlock Holmes said in the novel of Silver Blaze.

The life of Christopher changes because her neighbour’s dog was murdered. The story is entertaining and interesting, and also it has some funny parts. Once you start reading it you can’t stop following the adventures of Christopher John Francis Boone.

I’ll never become a publicist. It’s morally incorrect.

Sheila – The Desigual (Día de la madre) ad is very sexist so I’ll never want to become a publicist.

Marta – But that is not the publicist's fault, the brand also decides, what type of advert they want to do. Publicists normally gets, the brands ideas and then they create the advertisements.

Sheila – The publicist shouldn’t create a type of ad that they don’t believe in. They should think first in their values and think about if what they are creating follows their ethical values.

Marta – Publicist have to do what they are asked for, they cannot say, ah no I don’t want to create or write this ad because I’m against killing animals. They work for a company and that company works for some brands if the publicist doesn’t like those brands he will have to shut up and leave their values aside and work.

Sheila – I think that a publicist, as I said before, should place their values before of work and if the company they work for does not follow his/her values; he could always change of work and look for another one that he feels confortable with.

Marta – Nowadays we can’t go leaving jobs because we don’t like the values that the company works with. It’s not time to lose a job without having another one for sure. We must leave our feelings to one side and do what we must do and when we leave work is when we have to keep defending our way of life.

Sheila – You may be right because we all have families and people we care about and having a job nowadays is very important, but although I will never become a publicist because I would not feel happy with myself if I left behind what I have always defend.

M.A.R.I.L.U.L.A

Monica Glaenzel actress known for her role in "Plats Bruts" as Emma. M.A.R.I.LU.L.A an existentialist comedy in which the only element in the stage is a table, a handbag and a computer. It’s a play where the protagonist creates a very interesting monologue of an hour.

Monica Glaenzel tells the story from the point of view of a woman of 40 years old where in her day to day she doesn’t have any motivation and where discrimination and inequality is present.
A very intense and very funny play. In just one hour there is room for laughter, sing and cry, a goof job of the actress, because she put you in her role.

The work is done at the La Seca-Espai Brossa in Barcelona until October 12, a cozy little room where Monica is located very close to the viewer, this accentuates the intensity of the work. Highly recommended.
