We have chosen Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong is a fictional character; Shigeru Miyamoto created it for the Nintendo Company. Donkey Kong is a gorilla that appears in different videogames, such as Mario or Donkey Kong Country. When it first started to be commercialize, in 1981, was in the Super Mario Games, there he was Mario’s enemy, after his own games had started to be created the first one called Donkey Kong Country in 1994, but although having his own game it stills appears in some Mario games where he still acts as his enemy like in Mario Kart.

Donkey Kong is a big, corpulent and smart gorilla. He represents de strength because is what he most uses in every videogame, the strength used in a good way but also in a bad way, he also represents goodness because although he usually is the bad character he also is very loved by everyone. His big body, the hair over all his body and his nice and funny face makes people fell confortable with him and want to play with him.

In some videogames he acts as the villain, for example in the Super Mario games he tries to stop Mario from rescuing his lover Pauline. Donkey Kong has Pauline kidnapped and he wants her for him. Mario is always the one that has to pass through different episodes to win Donkey Kong, while he is always save waiting for Mario to come. In the other hand in his own videogames is Donkey Kong who is in danger and is his son who has to rescue him. Nowadays Donkey Kong has become a ancient gorilla now known as Cranky Kong and is his son who has new videogames with the same strength his father used.

He is so popular because when he was commercialized he broke with all the rules. With his creation the jump-and-run platform was born. Nowadays, thirty years after his birth, he still is one of the most recognized and loved fictional characters. His strength, his roll of villain and his desire to annoy and win Mario are the characteristics that make this character enjoyable.

Editing picture

We have edited Picture number 1 with the Photoshop programme, because is the one we know about and we have learn how to use it in the past two years here in University.

We have decided to blur some parts of the face that appears in the picture, doing this we’ve eliminated the wrinkles and the face will seems softer. The photo is pixelated so it was more difficult, because if we unfocused one part the pixel next to it was affected, but with the enlargement of the image and the graduation of the brush we have solved the problem. We can see this changes in picture number 2.

In the third picture we can see how we’ve changed de colour of her lips, so that way we give the picture more brightness. We have chosen a light colour because other colours, like red, would be too hard for the picture and they would be confused with other colours of the clothes and the background. In this case we have coloured first the top part of the lips because we had to trace the interior part of the mouth and be careful with the teeth’s to avoid that they got coloured. We have spent some time doing this because of its complexity; also we have illuminated the image so it wasn’t so dark.

Finally we have added a soft pink colour to the cheeks so that they stand out. It’s been hard to find the colours that fit into the image, because the pixels didn’t let us select a particular area, if we tried to fixed the right part of the face there was a pixel that had a part of face and of hair so if you changed it the hair changed also and with the right part we had the same problem with the eye. We have decided to reduce the colour of the cheeks, so that way we could stand out the lips and the eyes and leave in a second place the cheeks. We can se how the final photo is like (4) and compare it to the original (1).
